Improvements

Home Up

Recently two of our members, Danita Brandt and Geri Smith, joined their talents and made two quilts which were raffled off to raise funds for something special to benefit the club. Click here to see the quilts.  It has been their decision as to how those funds were to be spent.

After hearing many valid suggestions from the membership Danita and Geri began their deliberations.

Initially a donation was made towards a Christmas party and then a small air compressor was purchased to service the tractors and stored vehicles.

The remaining funds were recently spent to replace the sign on the front of the clubhouse property.

Doug Fulk aka Douglas Signs was contracted to make up the sign and he and Norm Smith recently installed it.  The sign measures 4 feet high and 6 feet wide, stands 4 feet off the ground and is constructed of aluminum for low maintenance.   No - the sign is not lighted, there was not enough money to hire a trencher, lay over 100 feet of underground wire and hire an electrician to hook it up.

Although Geri and Danita made the quilts much of the credit goes to the members who donated their Tee Shirts and then spent generously on the raffle tickets to make this possible.

In the summer of 2007 our property committee became aware that the rental house was in need to some maintenance, primarily the siding was deteriorating due to water infiltration and some of the windows no longer functioned.

The garage where our lawn tractors are stored was also found to be in need of repairs to the siding.

The decision was made to reside both buildings to eliminate further maintenance.  Several bids were received but were not within the approved budget.

Norm Smith volunteered to oversee the project with volunteer help from the membership to save the cost of labor which is typically one half of the total cost.  This enabled us to do the siding project within the budget and to include all new windows in the rental house too.

The project was completed in late summer and both buildings are now maintenance free on the outside.

The garage is due in 2008 to receive a new roof.

Many thanks to the volunteers who made this project a success, Terry Dart, Bill Brandt, Norm Smith, Jerry Wilcox, Ralph Merrill, Mike Sweet, Gary Howe and Geri Smith.
